FDFC v POK Athens

Fulham DFC 0-0 P.O.K. Athens  (on 23/04/2015 – Report by Jason Mycroft)

Fulham DFC played out a 0-0 draw against the reigning champions P.O.K Athens. This result meant that Fulham finished second in their group and will play the third placed team in Group B in the Quarter finals.

There were few opportunities for a heavily rotated Fulham side looking to assess the ability of the reigning champions. The closest Fulham came to scoring in the first half was via Daniel Waller, after the goalkeeper had fumbled the ball, he took a shot which was unfortunately blocked off the line by a defender.

Fulham went into the second half encouraged by their performance. Despite having a bit more control over the game at times, they could not find a winner. As the game progressed and the majority of Fulham’s attack coming through the right flank, it took until nearly the end of the match for Daniel Hogan to perform a wondrous display of trickery before firing off a shot which was brilliantly palmed over the crossbar.

The back line was constantly tested by the blistering pace of P.O.K Athens’ striker and wingers. Fulham were lucky that they did not have their striking boots as they wasted a host of opportunities.

Fulham were let off when an attempted lob over Sam Kemp in the 90th minute narrowly went over the crossbar. Fulham will have little complaints with their performance as they progress towards the quarter finals in their pursuit of cup glory.
