This summer the National Deaf Children's Society, as part of the Deaf Friendly Football Club (DFFC) project, are running official FA Level 1 and Level 2 Coaching Football courses exclusively for deaf people!

If you are interested in becoming a fully qualified football coach, or you want to progress in your coaching to Level 2 standard, but feel that FA Coaching Courses are not accessible for you, then we have the perfect opportunity for you!

Level 1:

Thursday 9th Sunday to 12th August 2007 9–5pm each day.

A four day course including Basic First Aid and Child Protection modules as well as the assessment. Those that pass will receive the FA Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football.

Both FA Tutors leading the session are fluent BSL users.

First Aid and Child Protection modules will have BSL Interpreters present.

Level 2:

Monday 13th Saturday to 18th August 2007 9–5pm each day.

Assessment weekend: Thurs 14th – Sun 17th February 2008 9–5pm each day.

A six day practical course including the Laws of the Game module.

Candidates will also receive support for completing their coursework book.

The four day assessment weekend will take place in February 2008. This will include further help with completing coursework books and participation in the final assessments.

Those that pass will receive the FA Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football.

FA Tutors and Assessors are all hearing but BSL Interpreters will be present throughout all the sessions and Tutors will receive Deaf Awareness training beforehand.

Both courses are funded by the DFFC Project and places are FREE for everyone accepted on the course! All we ask for is a cheque deposit of £50 (for the Level 1 course) or £100 (for the Level 2 course) that will only be cashed if the applicant does not attend all the dates of their chosen course. (Please note: We will not cash the cheques in the event that the applicant fails the course). Cheques are to be made payable to the NDCS.

Both courses will be held at Doncaster College for the Deaf, St Leger's Way, Doncaster. Everyone attending the course has the option of staying at the College Halls of Residence for the duration of their course.

Accommodation costs will also be funded by the DFFC Project and all meals will also be provided by the College.

We will not, however, be able to pay for your travel costs to and from the College.

Places are limited to 20 candidates per course. You must be 16 or over to attend either course.

Level 1 does not require any formal experience of coaching.

However, those wishing to attend the Level 2 course must have regular practical experience of participation in football and must have observed qualified and experienced coaches working with adults and children.

If you are interested in attending either course. Please fill in the attached form and return it either by email or post. Places will be allocated on suitability but please register your interest as soon as possible. We will inform you if you are successful or not shortly. The project runs for three years and we will be holding similar courses for the next two summers so there will be further opportunities to attend this course in the future.
