Fulham Deaf Football Club Presentation 2012
After a long season which saw the Men win the English Deaf Cup again for the second time, and the Ladies finish their season a credible 5th place in the Division Three South League, it was time to celebrate and give out the annual awards. Victoria Wenman and Jack Harding were both crowned Players of the Year for 2011/2012 at the Fulham Deaf Football Club end of Season presentation, which took place at The Trinity, in Borough on Saturday 9th June.
Jacob Willis, despite having his season ended halfway through when the deadly Guillain Barre Syndrome left him paralysed had scored enough goals to share the golden boot award with Joe Wylde! We are delighted to report that Jacob is making a very positive recovery and has his sights set on a return late next season!
Fulham DFC said a sad farewell to its stalwart Mark Gill who has left the club after nine years, to move to Bristol. Mark has played a huge part in all Fulham DFC’s success since the clubs formation. Mark’s most memorable goal will no doubt be his outrageous 30 yard lob against Teddington in 2003, which also travelled 30 yards vertically! Mark will be badly missed for his commitment and professionalism on and off the field and also his entertaining clown antics! We wish him all the very best with his new family, and new club Bristol DFC, a club he has played a part in reviving this season. The club have a gift for Mark Gill which will be announced on the website.
The auction was a huge success, all the items and services ranging from a car wash to babysitting, back massages and football shirts raised an amazing £1,073.00! Many thanks to all those who donated items and services, and a huge thanks to all those who bought them! A big thanks also to Honorary President Christof Niklaus for being a great auctioneer, bleeding every last pence out of everyone in the room for the club, and also a hat tip to my other half Lilli for suggesting that services were sold at the auction too as this made great money and provided great entertainment! Thanks Lilli!
Next up is the Fulham DFC Open Day, which will take place on Sunday August 19th at the Fulham FC Training Ground, Motspur Park. There will be two matches again, with FDFC Men taking on the FDFC All Stars, and the Women taking on Great Britain Deaf Women. There will also be a youth tournament, a BBQ and entertainment for kids. Details will be confirmed nearer the time!
