Fulham DFC 1-0 Acts 29
Fulham DFC continued their win streak with a close victory over Acts 29.
A late goal from Nick Gregory was just enough to ensure the streak continued. Fulham would have definitely preferred to not have left it so late but after efforts from Lee Farrell, Ben Lampert and Philip Swift weren’t converted, captain Gregory stepped in to save the day.
Despite a goalless and windy first half, Fulham outperformed Acts 29 and looked a far better side than the last time the two teams faced.
The second half saw Fulham continue their control over the game but as the minutes ticked by, the possibility that the streak might end crept closer and closer. The first biggest chance to take the lead went to Lee Farrell when a ball over the defence fell to him and his shot was saved by the goalkeeper. Perhaps the better option may have been to pass it to Jacob Willis who had a clearer shot on but in any case, the two on one was Fulham’s biggest chance.
Substitute Philip Swift came on giving Fulham that little more extra drive and push to score the goal. He did well to find space and draw the foul for the penalty, a penalty which Lampert placed in the bottom right corner, however the goalkeeper guessed correctly to push the shot away.
As time ticked on both teams pressed in search of a winner but it was Nick Gregory pouncing on a deflected Lampert shot, smashing home the winning goal. Fulham held out until the end and even had a brilliant opportunity to make it two when they broke away with less than a minute remaining, unfortunately Swift’s shot was directed at the goalkeeper.
The breakaway came after man of the match Fil Kamps was forced off the pitch due to a mild concussion.
