The date for the first of many battles for the new Fulham Deaf v
Westminster Casuals Shield is Saturday 25th August, with kick off being
3pm at Motspur Park. The venue for the shield will alternate between
clubs every year, with Fulham hosting the first battle with the winner
getting to keep the brand new shiny silver shield pictured above until the next battle.

The Shield against the Casuals will allow Fulham to end their
pre-season preparations with a strong test, against the Casuals who
Fulham have enjoyed a strong rivalry with since both clubs won
promotion from the KDFL Division Two in 2003/04 with the Casuals
winning the title.

The Casuals, Surry FA Champions in 2006 are on a high after starring in
June’s edition of FourFourTwo where they won the privilege of being
managed by Tony Cottee, in a match against The Dragons, a Warrington
side at The Valley, Charlton Athletic FC’s stadium.

The game was organised as part of the weekend wonders competition, in
which gaffer Phil Malcolm won for being the most committed man in the
grass roots game after forming the Casuals in 1991 to guarantee himself
a game.

The Casuals have since departed the Kingston & District Football
League and been successfully admitted to the Surrey South East
Combination Intermediate Division Two.

Fulham manager Ayad Sarraf will no doubt be looking forwards to welcome
the Casuals to Motspur Park, so he can run the rule over the progress
of Fulham DFC’s pre-season, before starting the clubs third assault on
the KDFL Division One on September 1st to push for promotion into the
Premier Division, after the club narrowly missed out in 2004/05, when
they finished in third spot, two spots behind the Casuals who won
promotion into the Premier Division.
