It is with regret that Leo Mansell, the Fulham Deaf Reserves squad manager is stepping down at the end of this season to focus on his new job, being fatherhood!

The reserves under Leo have enjoyed their best ever season, the squad has matured and gelled since its formation and has this year made an impression on the British Deaf Football scene, by beating Leeds DFC 5-1, before going out of the English Deaf Cup to former British Deaf and English Deaf Champions Doncaster DFC, in game which saw Doncaster DFC embarrassed by the reserves gutsy and battling performance, which kept the scoreline at 0-0 until seventy minutes, before the deadlock was broken.

We at the club are thankful for the sterling work Leo has done this season, and are sad to see him go.  To our delight Leo has stated his desire to stay involved with the club in a different capacity.  Meanwhile we send our congratulations to Leo and his wife Rebecca and wish them both all the very best!

The reserves compete in the Surrey South Eastern Combination Division Four, and the English Deaf Cup.

If you are interested, or know of someone who would be interested in taking on a new challenge, this could be someone who used to play football but has been out of the game for a long time and would relish the chance to get back in the game and join an established football club, please send an email to Nick Beese, at
