It is with regret to report that our rivals, enemies and friends from our first two seasons which saw many memorable battles, have decided to quit the Kingston & District Football League, to join another league in a quest for a new challenge.

Since joining the KDFL in 2002 Westminster Casuals have won an incredible four league titles and competed in seven cup finals and were crowned Surrey Champions in 2005/06.

It is a big loss to the Kingston & District Football League that such a club with a great pedigree of committed and passionate players and a dedicated manager has departed. Evidence of this is the fact that Casuals Gaffer Phil Malcolm was named the as one of the top two Weekend Wonders a FourFourTwo magazine competition – guys that go that bit further to make their teammates experience of amateur football something special – and were rewarded with the chance to lead out their players onto the Premiership stage and live the dream.

The competition was launched to find the most committed men in the grass roots game, and the judges were clearly impressed by the Gaffer’s years of absolute commitment and honest admission that he formed the club back in 1991 because noone else would give him a game.

It has been agreed between management that this summer will see the start of the annual ‘Fulham Deaf v Casuals Shield’, where there rivalry will be maintained as part of preseason preparations. This game will take place on one of the first two Saturdays in August. This years battle will commence at Motspur Park (subject to confirmation), and the venue will switch between sides every year. More details to come soon.
